Biography

Josh Payne is passionate about giving a voice to detransitioners who are seeking justice for healthcare-related harms. In representing these clients, he draws on his experience as a litigator and advocate in high-stakes cases. He has an AV-Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell for the highest level of professional excellence. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and has been selected to Super Lawyers based on peer recognition and professional achievement in legal practice. 

Prior to co-founding Campbell Miller Payne, PLLC, Josh represented individuals, companies, and government agencies in complex and public interest litigation. He served as an Assistant Attorney General for the state of Alabama and practiced at two distinguished law firms. He has handled cases involving healthcare issues, fraud, false advertising, antitrust and competition issues, trade secrets and patents, breach of contract, insurance coverage, fiduciary-duty claims against officers and directors, and constitutional and public law litigation. 

Josh is admitted to practice in Alabama and before the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Sixth, Ninth, and Eleventh Circuits. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama and a law degree from Washington and Lee University, where he served as president of the student body. 

Prior to law school, Josh served as an AmeriCorps/VISTA member of the inaugural staff of the organization now known as Impact America, where he helped launch and coordinate the FocusFirst vision screening initiative. He has participated in leadership forums for attorneys and is a graduate of the Alabama Leadership Initiative. Outside the office, Josh enjoys spending time with his family and in the great outdoors.
